Welcome to “Our Story, Our Country”, an exploration of American history through art.

The art pieces in this collection are taken from historical photos and transformed into stand-alone images about the people, places, and story behind the photo. I’m working on a page for each image in the portfolio to support the story and help you learn more about the image.

chief joseph

Hin-mah-too-yah-lat-kekt, popularly known as Chief Joseph was a leader of the Wal-lam-wat-kain band of Nez Perce, a Native American tribe of the interior Pacific NW region of the US, in the latter half of the 19th century.

I love this little girl, so beautiful and innocent. She was the silversmith’s daughter from the Navajo tribe in Gallup, NM in 1920.

Miss Isla Bevan

Miss Isla Bevan with her oddly plumed “Floradora Goose” a rare goose, decorated with fluffy un-gooselike feathers, at the 41st annual Poultry Show at Madison Square Garden in 1930.

Tesla

Nikola Tesla’s lab in Colorado Springs, CO taken in 1900.

Window Wipers having their lunch in the roundhouses women’s bathroom.

The original photo was called Doraldina [Indian Princess] an image published by Bain News Service between 1920 – 1925.

I created two different styles and both will be available on OpenSea.io within the next two weeks.
